Walk the Walk #377
What kind of photography do you do? Will the new technical advances really help your photography? If you are a wildlife or Sports photographer
Are you currently using your camera to the fullest of its ability? Are there features that you aren't using? Are you running the latest firmware of your camera? For the first and second question. I haven't been using my camera to the fullest ability. In other words I haven't outgrown it. It is still very capable and will be for a long time. There are parts in the menu that I haven't explored yet that may make my camera like brand new. I basically use the same features but don't explore others like I should. For the third
These are the questions that I had to ask myself. And I did. I decided that for the type of photography that I do I don't need the latest and greatest camera that is out there. I'm still getting good photo's from my camera. Most of my photographs are on the web so Megapixels isn't a great advantage to me I don't print that much and when I do it's usually in an end of year book. I don't miss the larger file sizes that large megapixels images would have added to my computer either. I am not a professional photographer so I don't need a big professional camera that has the latest and greatest technology.

Compact Lenses for Street Photography #375
My street Zoom. I have the Sony 28-60mm f/4-5-6 kit lens. This lens is very sharp but not quite as compact as the other lenses in my kit. It is
50mm Lens. This focal length is suppose to be close to normal eye sight. I have the Sony 50mm f/2.5 G lens. It is one of the 3 compact lenses that Sony made for the new Sony A7C camera model when it came out. They made it in a 50,40 and 24mm focal lengths. It
All three of these lenses are small and easy to carry and will fit in small fanny pack or jacket pocket. These fun little lenses will make you a better photographer in my opinion because you really don't need to think about anything but composing and looking for your shot. Also traveling with these light lenses will be an ease on your back. I usually only take two of these at a time . Usually the primes but if I am carrying the Zoom I will take one of the primes for low light shots. Well that's it for this week so... Get out and Shoot! "Street Photography" Hunter or Fisher? #374
Hunters. Hunters are searching for subjects, hunting them down. Maybe they see an interesting looking person and follows them around. Or maybe they just wander around waiting to find the perfect light and scene maybe a bicycle laying against an ivy covered wall with the perfect shadow on it that they just happened to come up upon. Hunters are constantly moving
Fisher's. Fishers are much slower and methodical in their approach. They usually pick out a back ground scene with all of the interesting details in it and then wait for someone interesting to come and walk through. Much like a landscape photographer who finds the right composition and then waits for the perfect light or formation of clouds to come by before taking the shot. I have
Both approaches work well for street photography. I kind of use them both. When I'm doing a photo walk of a city I'm just walking around looking for that great photo. But sometimes while I'm out on a photo walk I find a great background and just sit a while and wait for that great shot to come to me when someone walks through. So sometimes I'm both a Hunter and a Fisher. Which are you? Until Next week Get out and Shoot!

New Camera Day! Now What? #373
Protect it. Protecting your expensive investment is key to a happy and enjoyable relationship with your camera .
Use it. Things that I do when I first get a camera is to get it set up to me. With all of the menus and items that you can change this becomes daunting. I usually find a YouTube video on setting up my particular camera and they go through all of the settings of your camera. I like back button focus so I always make sure that is setup. I also get my camera set up with a strap of some sort. I'm a big peak design guy so all I have to do is put some of those buttons that they use to connect the strap on my
Getting a new camera is great! But it can be an overwhelming task to learn it with all of the technical things that new camera's do. I would suggest watching some youtube videos or some sort of tutorial that you can watch over and over again until you understand how it works and what settings will work best for you. I'm sure some folks have other things that they do when they get a new camera please share. Until next week . Get out and Shoot!
